ABOUT THE DISTRICT

Our proposed district defines Downtown Poughkeepsie’s commercial core. It includes shops, restaurants, bars, bakeries, office spaces, event halls, cultural destinations, open space, parkland, residential buildings, and the seats of county and local government. It is the vibrant, beating heart of the Queen City, and an area ripe for investment through infrastructure improvement, public art, community events, tourism, and more.

173 Taxable Parcels

EXPANDING THE DISTRICT

If successful, the BID boundaries can be expanded in the future via a vote by the City of Poughkeepsie Common Council. Prior to any expansion, all property owners in the proposed new BID area must be notified and given the opportunity to support or oppose the expansion via the same process required to establish the initial Business Improvement District.
